IPL 2025 New Rules!

 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced several key rule changes for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season:


  • Saliva Use Restored
    Bowlers can now apply saliva to shine the ball, a practice reinstated after discussions with team captains, enhancing traditional swing techniques. 

  • 'Second Ball' Rule IntroducedTo counteract dew's impact during night matches, umpires will inspect the ball after the 11th over of the second innings; if excessive dew is present, a new ball will be provided. 

  • Impact Player Rule ContinuesTeams can substitute one player during a match, offering strategic flexibility and more opportunities for uncapped players. ​
  • Expanded DRSThe Decision Review System now includes referrals for height-based no-balls and wides outside the off-stump, utilizing Hawk-Eye technology for precise decisions.
